Dress up in Jeans....

Jeans are a staple that no girl can live without. But it's so hard to find a pair that fit just right and have the right color and style. The first thing to pick is the color of your jean. The darker the jean the more slimming it is. If you are wider in the thigh and you don't want to accentuate this feature, then stay away from jeans with lighter washes in the middle and darker edges.

It's important to always get your jeans in the right length. If you are shorter, then a straight cut leg down past the ankle is the best to lengthen your leg. If you are tall, a straight cut looks great but you can also pull off a flare leg or boot cut jean a little better than some. If you are of average height then you can probably wear just about any style you like, you just have to make sure they are long enough.

If you are in between sizes and find it hard to get jeans that fit you just right, search for half-sized jeans. There are many "in-between" sizes available for teen girls. We found some really cute ones at the Limited Too.

We also found a great variety of jeans at gapkids.com and gap.com

Have fun jean shopping!!

Nail Art

Love beauty and fashion? Wanting to get your creative juices flowing? Well, Nail Art would be a fun activity for you. Now, we're talking just a little bit of nail art, not nails caked with glitter, gems and sunset scenes (but if that's your thing, more power to you). I personally prefer a more simple look.

Here's some tips on how to give yourself an ultra-cute manicure and pedicure:

1. Start with a clean nail and apply your base color (pick something fun like a bright pink or red!)

2. Choose a design - for this example we will do a daisy flower.

3. Most professionals use a stylus (a writing utensil), but to be simple you can use a toothpick with a fine point on the end to apply your design.

4. You can use colored nailpolish, or any acrylic paint used for actual artwork (make sure it's acrylic and not oil based - this won't work) to apply your design.

5. Take your toothpick and dip the tip into the colored polish - example: use yellow paint for the middle of your flower and lightly "dot" the paint on your dried base polish.

6. Use the toothpick to dip into white paint (or whatever color you want your flower) and then make dots around the yellow center dot. You can add leaves or swirls in any color by using the toothpick also.

Happy painting! Feel free to post a comment if you have a question.

Take care of your tresses

All girls know how important it is to take care of your tresses, but do you know how to prevent hair damage? One common question is "Does blow-drying and styling damage my hair?"

Although your hair might seem healthy, there can be unseen damage caused by blow-drying and using a straightening iron and/or curling iron. To help prevent damage, keep the blow dryer at least 6 inches away from your hair and use the warm (not hot) setting. There are also many awesome heat protectant sprays and serum for your hair that you can apply before using heat on your hair. My personal favorite is Nuetrogena Heatsafe, which you can find at most retailers. It protects your hair and smells delicious! Try to use a medium heat setting on your straightening iron or curling iron and don't hold your hair in it for more than a few seconds....if you see steam, release!

It's also best to wash your hair every other day, if possible. The natural oils from your hair act as a conditioner, adding shine and luster to your locks. If you have very oily hair, daily washing may be necessary, but you should use a healing shampoo and conditioner, such as Nuetrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner.

Another way to keep your hair looking fabulous is to take regular trips to the salon, every 6-8 weeks for a trim is best.
